AUMC Music Ministry Staff
Dr. Sheryl Sebo, Music Minister, directs adult and youth choirs at Arapaho UMC, and oversees the music ministry. She has a foundation and devotion to both spiritual and musical expressions of faith. She holds an undergraduate degree from TCU in church music, holds a Masters of Sacred Music, with concentration in organ, choral directing and theology, and a DMA in organ from Rutgers University. She has served full-time ministries in Colorado, New Jersey and Texas, most recently serving part-time as an Organist at FUMC Plano. Sheryl serves also as Assoc. Faculty at CCCCD/Spring Creek Campus, where she teaches music fundamental courses, is the Dean of the Dallas Chapter AGO, and teaches private organ. She is married to Eric Sebo, with two sons: Jeff, at NYU in graduate philosophy studies, and Marc, at Plano East HS. In spare time, she gardens, reads and swims.
Louis Walker, Organist, has many gifts, both spiritual and musical. comes to us with a strong background in organ and church music, with a music degree from California State University and a Bible degree with Honors from Multnomah School of the Bible, as well as degrees in Computer Science and an MBA from Hawaii! He has served as Organist/Choirmaster or Organist in numerous churches while pursuing a career in the business world. He is an Audit Manager for Citigroup, and in spare time, maintains a beautiful garden and home and cares for his dog, Mr. Schwartz.
Mary Jane Turnbow, Children's Choir Director, comes with much experience as a teacher and as a musician, with a Bachelor's degree in piano, voice, Music education, and Physical Science from Stephen F. Austin State University, a Masters in Elementary Ed., from SFA, and a doctorate in education from UNT. She is active as a private teacher, volunteer soloist, member of Chancel Choir, and works with husband Don in his business.
Tina Harrison, Children's Choir Director, brings her knowledge of piano and preschool music to Children's Choirs and overall Music Ministry at AUMC. Her background includes a Bachelor's degree in Piano Performance from Lawrence University in Wisconsin , and a Master's degree in Piano Pedagogy from Southern Methodist University. Tina also taught Kindermusik for many years. She currently has a piano studio of 14 students and is the music specialist for Heritage Montessori Academy in Murphy, teaching 175 students ranging in age from toddler through early elementary.
Rosa Howell, Children's Choir Director, won numerous awards in college for her singing, and even performed on radio and TV in her native Taiwan. She was also in charge of music for worship at Christ College in Taiwan during her senior year. Before moving to the US, she was a member of the Taipei Philharmonic Chorus. Rosa is currently a member of Plano Civic Chorus, as well as the Chancel Choir and Glory Bells here at Arapaho UMC.
Joyce Patton, Glory Handbell Director, earned a degree in Music Education, where she also studied organ, and has taught music in the public school system. She has devoted her life to her family and to volunteer work in many aspects of church life, especially with choirs and bell choirs.
