The Music Ministry at Arapaho UMC is based on the two greatest commandments: Love God and love your neighbor. We do this by proclaiming God’s love for all people through music of all styles by all ages. Below you’ll find our various ensembles and opportunities to participate.

Congregational Song
Sundays at 8:30AM and 11:00AM Worship Services
At AUMC we believe that the congregation is the largest musical ensemble in the church. The singing of the congregation should be profound, beautiful, and fun. We try to achieve that by encouraging each other to sing out gladly and by singing a multitude of styles. We sing everything from hymns like “Leaning on the Everlasting Arms” to contemporary choruses. We believe that all people and nations have a stanza to add to the church’s song, and we want to participate in that song in as many ways as possible.

Chancel Choir
Rehearsals: Wednesdays from 7:30 pm to 9PM
Open to adults and youth who desire to offer their talents of singing in worship leadership at the 11:00 service.  We have a January retreat in Glen Rose, TX that provides a special time of fellowship, growth and preparation. Seasonally, this group performs special works in concert or worship and shares God's love through music with others in the community.

Children's Music
Our children are provided with musical opportunities throughout the year through their Sunday School time on Sunday mornings, our yearly musical camp in August, and various solos for Sunday morning worship.
Soloists and Instrumentalists
If you can't find time to rehearse weekly, but can share your gifts once in a while, we celebrate all who desire to give and to serve. Whatever your gift and passion, whether singing or playing an instrument, contact the church to discuss ways to serve! Please let me know what you want to sing or play so I know how to best include you in the life of the church.

Instrumental Ensemble
Our instrumental ensemble plays for worship about 4 times per year and includes brass, woodwinds, and strings. Rehearsals are called as needed to prepare for our worship contributions. The literature we play is flexible enough so that if you are an advanced player, we’d love to have you! But if you haven’t played your instrument since high school, we’d like to have you too! The more the merrier.

Handbells at Arapaho UMC
Rehearsals: Wednesdays 6:30pm
Glory Bells is open to both adults and youth and is directed by Joyce Patton. They provide music for worship, participate in festivals, and provide outreach to the community. New members are always welcome!

College Handbell Ensemble
Rehearsals: Sundays at 2:00PM
The University of North Texas Wesley Foundation students who attend AUMC have formed a handbell ensemble that plays just for fun! They have contributed to worship multiple times since they formed a year ago.
